Three New Collective Transport Options

Due to the growth in both passenger and freight traffic, as well as ongoing road maintenance, congestion on the roads continues to increase. In addition, many workplaces remain difficult to access by public transport. The following three collective transport solutions offer your employees a fast, convenient, and cost-effective commute—without additional administration:

• Carpooling: Two or more colleagues share a ride to work—optionally at short notice—via the Nabogo app. The driver receives €2 per passenger per trip, plus €0.10 per additional kilometre for journeys exceeding 10 km.
• Vanpooling: Employees (including shift workers) travel together in a shared van via Vipre, with one employee driving and receiving €5 per passenger per trip.
• Hopper: A demand-responsive shuttle service between Maassluis, Maasland, Brielle, and Botlek, bookable via EBS. The shuttle only stops at locations where a reservation has been made—your employees can alight at a (free) stop at your company site.

On the website 'Smart Commuting to the port' employees can find all relevant information and book these services directly. This enables more flexible and sustainable travel, improves punctuality, and reduces travel time. As an employer, you only pay the standard mileage allowance. Participation also strengthens recruitment and retention, supports WPM reporting, and enhances your organisation’s sustainable profile. Until 1 July, employees can take advantage of discounted travel—so be sure to register your company soon.

Financial implications for employees and employers

• As an employer, you pay a monthly allowance of €0.23 per kilometre to employees
• Employees use this allowance to cover the cost of collective transport
• This ensures a simple and transparent system, with no additional administration
• Employees can also act as drivers in carpooling and vanpooling arrangements, allowing them to earn additional income
• Carpooling: €2 per passenger per trip + €0.10 per kilometre beyond 10 km
• Vanpooling: €5 per trip, regardless of the number of passengers
• Until 1 July, employees can travel free of charge
